This policy explains how Joel Hynes trading as The Shoreline Agency, ABN 89 082 898 643 ("we", "us") collects, uses, holds and discloses personal information. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Buying a home involves sharing personal and financial details with the people helping you. We take that seriously. This policy sets out plainly what we collect, why, and what your rights are.
1. What we collect

2. Why we collect it
We collect, hold and use personal information to:

Provide buyer's agency services, including property search, assessment, due diligence guidance, negotiation and auction bidding

Act on your instructions and communicate with selling agents, your legal representative and other parties to your purchase

Respond to enquiries and manage our relationship with you

Send you information we think is genuinely useful, such as our newsletter and market updates, where you have opted in (see section 6)

Meet our legal obligations, including under the Property and Stock Agents Act 2002 (NSW), and to keep proper records

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary for these purposes.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only:

To parties involved in your purchase, on your instructions: selling agents, vendors, your solicitor or conveyancer, mortgage broker, building and pest inspectors, strata inspectors and valuers

To service providers that support our business, such as website hosting, customer relationship management, document signing, email and analytics providers

4. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia. In particular:

Our website is built on Wix, which stores data in the United States and other countries

We use Google services (including analytics and tag management) and Meta advertising tools, which process data in the United States

Our client records are held in Zoho's Australian data centres
Where information is handled overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure providers protect it in a manner consistent with the APPs.
5. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, understand how it is used, and measure our marketing. This includes Google Tag Manager and analytics tools, and may include advertising tools such as the Meta pixel, which can be used to show you relevant content on other platforms.
You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through your Google and Meta account settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site features.
6. Direct marketing
If you subscribe to our newsletter or download one of our resources, we may send you market updates and buyer education content. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can opt out at any time by using that link or emailing us at info@theshorelineagency.com.au.
7. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls and reputable cloud providers. No internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes above or as required by law, including record-keeping obligations that apply to licensed agents.
